Heritage Walk (Summer 2026) - Cured by the Sea; the British seaside as medicine
£7
British seaside resorts originated as fashionable locations for the cure of ill-health amongst the wealthy but, over time, became places where working class people visited to escape the consequences of urban life. We explore how this affected Hayling Island while taking in the sea air ourselves.
This 2 mile walk will involve some shingle beach.
We will meet at 10.30am at Eastoke Beach car park (Southwood Road-Creek Road junction – PO11 9FD)
