In her talk, Penny Munday will explain how the Swing Riots Research Group was formed and outline the sources the team used. These range from the marvellous books produced by Jill Chambers and widely accessible resources such as Ancestry, to the Wellington Papers—1137 boxes held at Southampton University. The group also drew on more distant materials, including Australian convict records.

This talk accompanies The Forgotten Riots of 1830 exhibition which is being hosted in The Spring’s Mezzanine Gallery between Tuesday 10th February and Saturday 21st March. Entry to the exhibition is free.
