When Annie’s husband John dies of leukaemia, her best friend Chris is determined to do something to honour his memory. Together, they persuade their fellow members of the local Women’s Institute to produce a charity calendar—with a daring twist. Instead of flowers and landscapes, the ladies themselves will feature, tastefully posing nude behind teapots, buns and knitting!
What begins as a light-hearted idea soon takes on a life of its own, catapulting this small Yorkshire community into the national spotlight. Amidst the media frenzy, the women find their friendships tested, their confidence transformed, and their lives changed forever.
Based on a true story that became a beloved film and a record-breaking West End play, Calendar Girls by Tim Firth is a funny, touching and deeply human story about love, loss, and the power of ordinary people to do something extraordinary.
