The Crown Jewels
A Talk by Dr Anna Keay
To celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of the Queen, Dr Anna Keay, Curatorial Director of English Heritage will give a talk on the astonishing story of the Crown Jewels. The Crown Jewels are both the most visited and least understood of the nation’s great collections. The priceless objects still housed in the Tower of London were created as the physical embodiment of English sovereignty, and their story is that of the English monarchy itself - from the 12th-century spoon used to pour the oil of St. Thomas at the coronation, to the crown that King Edward VIII took into exile after the abdication.
Copies of Anna’s book ‘The Crown Jewels’ will be available for purchase and signing after the talk.
