We’re going Beyond the Walls

Jemma-Corbin Beyond the walls Outreach Officer

The Spring heads out Beyond the Walls

The Spring Arts and Heritage Centre launches a new programme of creative performances and workshops throughout the Borough of Havant.

The Spring Arts and Heritage Centre in Havant are delighted to announce the start of a new outreach project, Beyond the Walls, which aims to take art and heritage direct into the heart of the community.

Through an exciting programme of live professional performances and participatory workshops, The Spring hopes to make arts and culture accessible to everyone by taking opportunities beyond the walls of the East Street venue and into public spaces such as libraries, schools and other community spaces. Through this programme of work, the organisation wants to continue building relationships with local people, to engage new audiences and to broaden the cultural offer in the Borough.

The project has been funded for a first year by the Arts Council, England and has included the appointment of a new Outreach Officer, Jemma Corbin, to oversee this exciting new programme. Jemma comes from an arts participation and outreach background and has a passion for establishing arts projects in the community.

Jemma says:
“I am delighted to be starting this role. The Spring already has a wealth of inspiring events taking place within the venue itself and I am looking forward to taking the best of The Spring out in to Havant. I’m keen to hear from local people and organisations about what they’d like to see, do and experience and I’m interested in building new partnerships to support this new work in the area. I can’t wait to see what we, as a community, can make happen!”

Sophie Fullerlove, The Spring’s Director, says:
“As an arts and heritage organisation we exist to provide events and activities for our community and it is our job to make sure that people can access these things easily. One of the most effective ways of doing this is getting out into the community. We are delighted to have secured Arts Council funding to support our work out of the building and we are really excited at the prospect of being more than just a venue.”

Events and opportunities to take part will be taking place from the summer, so keep an eye on The Springs website, www.thespring.co.uk for further information.
