This exhibition of local artefacts dates back beyond the original Roman settlements through to recent times.

Many of the artefacts will be familiar to visitors of the previous Museum and include: the stocks and whipping post, Scalextric, St Faith’s Church Turret Clock, Stents leather, a 1900’s police truncheon and much more.

The History of the Borough of Havant is divided into themes:
1. Archaeology of early Havant
2. Sport & Leisure
3. Havant at War
4. Health & Well-being
5. Industry, Transport, Shipping
and Childhood
6. Decade of the 1950’s

In addition visitors can:
• Apply to display their own artefacts in the bespoke Private Collection Cases
• Step inside a 1950’s kitchen and lounge with original 1950’s artefacts celebrating the building of the Leigh Park Estate in the late forties
• Experience a timeline telling the history of the Borough of Havant
• Make use of an activities table for small children

The Research Room with its local archive and map collection has been moved to a bigger space and has been greatly improved with the help and support of the Friends of Havant Museum. It is an area to study local history and has two internet access
computers for research purposes.

Developed as a partnership between The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre and Hampshire County Council Museums & Archives Service.
