Strictly Speaking

A national poetry day celebration of performance poetry by some of the brightest young stars of the live lit scene. A hand-picked selection of poets who will stir you, startle you, spark shivers in your spine and leave you speechless.

Including performances from:

Headline Act
Simon Mole - Simon Mole is the poet from the pub, that rapper from the beach, the friendly guy with the big eyes who told that story. His infectious enthusiasm for seeing and re-seeing the world around him is an open invitation for you to do the same. Some stuff he says is mad funny, everybody gets it, plus he speaks from the heart, and his love for the craft of writing is there for all to see.

Indigo Williams - Indigo commands the stage with gripping presence and powerful poetry. She has performed across the UK and Europe and at events such as: The Big Chill festival, iTunes Festival, Camp Bestival, BBC Radio 4’s ‘Bespoken Word’, The Royal Shakespeare Company, The Royal Festival Hall and many more.

Paul Cree - Paul has the ability to make you feel like it was you who discovered him, like he was speaking to only you when everyone else started clapping, bloody latecomers. An amazing storyteller, with turns-of-phrase to die for and an effortless rhyming flow.” Joshua Idehen, Poejazzi

Megan Beech - Dubbed by the Poetry Society as ‘by far the strongest female freestyler we have ever had the infinite pleasure to witness’, in 2011 Megan won both the Poetry Society’s national youth slam competition, SLAMbassadors, and the Poetry Rivals UK under 18 slam.

Apples and Snakes is England’s leading performance poetry organisation.
